1. Information We Collect
FuelFind collects the minimum data necessary to provide our service. We collect information you provide directly and data generated through your use of the app.
- Account Data: Phone number (for OTP authentication), or Google/Apple ID (for OAuth sign-in), and optional display name.
- Location Data: GPS coordinates when you use the map or submit a vote. Location is used only to show nearby stations and verify vote proximity (within 500m). We do not track your location in the background.
- Vote Data: Fuel availability reports you submit, including station ID, vote type, queue length, timestamp, and your location at the time of voting.
- Device Data: Device ID, platform (iOS/Android), and FCM token for push notifications.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To display nearby fuel stations and their real-time availability status.
- To verify that votes are submitted from a valid proximity to the station.
- To calculate trust scores that improve the accuracy of community reports.
- To send push notifications about fuel availability within your chosen radius.
- To prevent abuse through rate limiting and spam detection.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers in certified data centres. Authentication tokens are encrypted on-device using MMKV storage. All API communication uses TLS 1.3 encryption. Database connections are pooled through pgBouncer with strict access controls.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Firebase (Google): For phone OTP verification and push notification delivery.
- Aggregated Data: Anonymous, aggregated fuel availability data may be shared via our B2B API. This data cannot identify individual users.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations):
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Correct any inaccurate personal data.
- Erasure: Delete your account and all associated data via the app (Profile > Delete Account) or by contacting us.
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your personal data.
6. Push Notifications
Push notifications are entirely optional. You control the notification radius (1-10 km), quiet hours, and can disable them at any time. We enforce a maximum of one notification per user per 30 minutes server-side. Unsubscribing removes your FCM token from our database.
7. Cookies
The FuelFind mobile app does not use cookies. Our website uses essential cookies only for basic functionality. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
8. Data Retention
Vote data is retained to maintain station accuracy scores. Account data is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is erased and your votes are anonymised within 30 days.
